Serena Galloway, PhD

Hi, I'm Dr. Serena Galloway. My pronouns are She/Her. Professionally, I'm a clinical psychologist with a private practice in Whittier, California. I specialize with working with adults, couples, and families with anxiety, depression, identity formation, and life transitions such as graduating high school, attending higher education, new jobs, getting married, and becoming parents. Currently, I provide telehealth services to clients residing anywhere in California, and have an office in Whittier for in-person sessions.

Culturally, I'm biracial - my father is African American and my mother is Colombiana, who immigrated to the US when she was 5 years old. I was raised by my single mother on the east coast and her hardship of working multiple jobs gave me the privilege of being the first person in my family to go and graduate from college in Maryland. I moved to San Francisco to earn my phd in clinical psychology, lived in San Diego while working on my dissertation, and then moved to Los Angeles for my APA doctoral internship at a community mental health agency, providing therapy to low income and marginalized populations.

Personally, I met my biracial partner while in undergrad, dated a few years including long distance, and now we have been married for almost 12 years with two young daughters. I am also a Christian with a "radical" acceptance of all cultural backgrounds and orientations.

I love working with clients who are trying to ground themselves in their constant evolving identities and life changes, helping them build their resilience, create a sense of balance in all aspects of their life, and empower their motivation to thrive.
