Gauri Sánchez migrated from Guatemala with her family at the young age of seven with her hardworking, loving parents and her older sister. They traveled over 3,000 miles from Guatemala to Stockton, California in pursuit of freedom, safety, and opportunity. She arrived in East Stockton only to find many similar conditions. In a community full of promise but riddled with unresolved social and historical institutional traumas. This disparity and lack of opportunity for communities in Stockton drove her to pursue a Masters in Counseling with an emphasis of Marriage and Family Therapy from CSU Sacramento.
She is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. Gauri is driven by her passion to apply her experiences, education and culture to unlock the potential of the community to create a healing movement. Gauri is currently the clinical manager and lead mental health clinician in FFSJ’s Stockton Trauma Recovery Center where she works in the frontlines with a dynamic team of clinicians, intervention workers, street reach workers to narrow and bridge opportunities to healing, stability and empowerment for survivors of violent crimes. She is a Latina Clinician on a Mission with a Vision who loves her community, family and shows up for them!
